Am thinkin of buying a HP Laserjet 1020 but looks like the toner is almost the same price as the printer?

I would like a reliable b/w printer.am looking to spend around 拢60. A friend recommended the hp1020 but looks like the toners for the 1020 are almost the same price as the printer itself. Any bright ideas on good feasible laserjets even if its not HP (am biased towards hp) need one asap for my uni assignments...cheersAm thinkin of buying a HP Laserjet 1020 but looks like the toner is almost the same price as the printer?
cheers,

the thing is, printer manufactures make their money off the toner/cartridges, not the printers. also laser printers get many more pages than the average cartridge.

check the number of pages/cartridge and decide....if you use this printer for a couple of years, it will pay for the difference versus a inkjet, with beter quality and pages/minAm thinkin of buying a HP Laserjet 1020 but looks like the toner is almost the same price as the printer?
Since a laser cart is good for 3000+ pages, unless you print a LOT that cartridge will last you many many many months.
it's true it's expensive but you did you know the toner print about 4000 copy and that's good I think you should buy it it's good one and canon 2900 is very good too .

to me I prefer canon it's powerful and print about 4000 copy too..

I am looking for a compatible toner cartridge for a Dell 3100cn printer. Such as a Minolta or something.?

I've heard that maybe Minolta. Something I can go into a store to buy. Thanks!I am looking for a compatible toner cartridge for a Dell 3100cn printer. Such as a Minolta or something.?
Not going to happen. Dell keys all the cartridge specifically for their machines so they cannot be interchanged.

Your best bet is either purchasing from dell or looking into re manufactured toners.

With regards to refilling, you will get toner dust everywhere, and it is nasty stuff. I really don't recommend it unless you have an extremely steady hand, a well ventilated area that you don't mind coating in black dust, and some clothes you are not overly attached to.I am looking for a compatible toner cartridge for a Dell 3100cn printer. Where are toner and ink cartridges & computers/printers ';recycled';?

Does anyone know if toner and ink cartridges and computers and printers ';really'; get recycled? What happens to the old stuff? How can someone actually get their old stuff truly recycled? What to do?Where are toner and ink cartridges %26amp; computers/printers ';recycled';?
Yes, they're really recycled. The manufacturer's refill the cartridge with ink and sell it again.Where are toner and ink cartridges %26amp; computers/printers ';recycled';?
Will this question is a bit strange and may be i didn't understand it but i will try to answer for what i understood. and my talk here about the laser printers not the inkjet printers.

The ink cartridge contains of several parts ( drum - toner place - some michainical parts ) .

    1) if you are in a good country you through out your cartridge in the carbage and some company took it and melt it down and use the plastic parts.

    2) but if you in a poor country like mine( egypt ) we get another toner package and open the cartridge and fill it with toner again.

    3) How we do this : the traders of comuters here import this toner ( from eastern Aisa ) in big packages and they cut it in small packages and sell .

    4) The last part of your question depends on two things :

    a) the condition of the drum , if it have many stripes on it so it is over and you got to get rid of it and get another one, if the drum is good then you can change the toner only.

    5) from where to buy the toner and the drum if you needed it ( any computer shop ) and of course i don't know do they get these things in your country or not.

I hope this answer will satisfy you .
The diabetes association has a web site where they recycle ink cartridges. I am not sure about the computers, but some places where they sell computers they also take them for recycle for schools and other places where children need computers.
I usually put the empty cartridges in an old coffee can. Then take them to my cities recycle center. The will either incenerate them or sell them for recycling.

Check with your City Hall to see if they have Clean Up days. This is where you can put out dangerous chemicals like paints , used oil, household cleaner etc. and the city will pick them up and dispose of them properly. My city does this twice a year. The other day the city counsel approved adding two additional time each year. Now there will be clean up days every 3 months. I love it.
Take the toners to a pc repair shop they refurbish. ink cartrige throw away and buy new. Computer and printers take them to the pay dump. Or I found a website that recycles.

Do you know of a store that sells toners for laser printers ?

I know that ink/toner refilling stations found in malls and commercial area will refill your printer cartridge with toner.

I am looking for a supplier ( in Metro Manila ) that sells toners in foil packs and teach me how to refill toner cartridges.

Thank you for your help.Do you know of a store that sells toners for laser printers ?
There is a store near the corner of P. Noval street and Espana street ( near the University of Santo Tomas campus ) that sells toners in foil packs.

People who repairs printers would also know where to source toners for laser printers.Do you know of a store that sells toners for laser printers ?
Try CD-R King, they have a website too.
it might be a good idea to look through the yellow pages under office supplies or toners/printers since you want to find a supplier. that's really a good idea (getting a supplier) if you plan on buying in bulk, like for an office. you're more likely to get it at a lower price. it's also a good idea to shop around for the best price before settling on one.

Are the toner fumes from laser jet printers toxic?

In a word, yes. A team of Australian scientists at the Queensland University of Technology have undertaken research to find out if the laser printers we use everyday at work and home pose any health risks. The results are quite alarming.

During their investigation, over 60 different models of laser printer were used, and their emissions tested. The results found that around a third of the printers gave off emissions that contained particles of toner. When toner particles are inhaled, they can cause health problems such as respiratory damage. The damage is comparable to smoking. Are the toner fumes from laser jet printers toxic?
It is made from the same elements as petrol and diesel, if I may recall, it isn't most advisable to breath exhaust fumes! Are the toner fumes from laser jet printers toxic?
well i'm not sure, but i've read some articles that say they are
The toner itself is a plastic material that gets melted onto the paper. You can judge for yourself if it is healthy to inhale plastic.

Which Colour Laser Printers Have the cheapest Toner?

I agree with smedrik and I give her a thump up for her answer

Have you ever heard about GelSprinter?

It is a new tech in printing and gives u laser quality and features with the price of ink printer, and if you need just business color there is feature called level color mode that gives you the cost per page of color equal to the black print.

Just see this site and think about it.Which Colour Laser Printers Have the cheapest Toner?
I think they are all close to the same price, I repair printers for 20 years and I always use Canon, they are reliable, hard working and they are the industry leader, you can look at the HP lasers another great printer, also made by Canon, but go to their web sites see what ones you like better, check the prices for the toner, and go from there, hope this has helped and good luck.Which Colour Laser Printers Have the cheapest Toner?
They all have fairly comparable costs per page.

Keep in mind the toner isn't the only consumable you are looking at. Colour Laser printers also require, drums, fusers image transfer kits, and maintenance kits.

Okidata have fairly low cost toners, however they are hard to come by. HP are very common, and easy to find in a compatible.

As much as I hate to say it, A mid range HP laserjet may be your best bet, however prior to purchasing the printer you will want to explore the availability of the toners, namely if a compatible toner is available in your area.

I want to refill toners for my Xerox Phaser 7760. Would it damage my printer & How?

You can ';usually'; get away with refilling the Toner cartridge once, maybe twice. But after that you can start having ';drum'; issues and at that point you will want to replace the whole toner cartridge.

  • Putting ink into your Laser Printer Toners?

    Hi

I have a Brother HL-2030 printer working fine and everything however there's a yellow light on Toner which i'm guessing is out of ink.

When i purchased it the seller told me that there's a little hole on the side of the Toner that I can put ink into or watever so it works.

Is this correct and where can i purchase these ink packs? Whenever i search online they sell the whole toners that cost alot of money.

thxPutting ink into your Laser Printer Toners?
I have 2 Brother HL2040 laser printers which are probably very similar to yours. I found toner (not ink!) on ebay for $6 a bottle. You also need a part called a reset gear or the refill wont work. It's a $3-$4 item. Make sure you get it with the toner (buy from someone who knows what it is and has it). Refilling can be a little messy so wear a plastic glove and do it outdoors or over a newspaper. But it's not that terrible. We've done it a few times over the years. $6 a refill beats $30-$40 per toner.Putting ink into your Laser Printer Toners?
DON'T DO THAT!!! You'll destroy your printer!!!!

You have a laser printer. It uses toner cartridges. Toner is a powder and a laser printer uses heat to fuse the toner powder onto the paper. Ink cartridges (a liquid) are for ink jet printers.

You try putting ink into a toner cartridge and run that through your printer and you'll destroy your printer.

Wow, that seller who told you that doesn't know what he's talking about and I would not trust anything he said. You can refill ink cartridges, but I've never heard of do-it-yourself toner refills.
No worth the effort. For two reasons, you need new toner roll which you will get with re-built toner cartridge. Adding your own toner is big mess. You will cleaning up toner for couple weeks, the power is like baby power goes every where but none where you what. I have pickup new and overstock cartridges on ebay far below retail prices.

Toner is plastic coated iron filings which melt under heat and pressure.

Toner roller becames dirty and leaves lines.

Does Non-Petroleum based toner make laser printers safer/healthier?

There was a report that came out of Queensland Australia that examined the particle emissions of laser printers having the same health effects as smoking due to their ink. I was wondering if the ink is instead soy/vegetable and/or water based would it negate the emissions all together, or is there some other chemicals involved that I do not know about?Does Non-Petroleum based toner make laser printers safer/healthier?
Am, the ';ink'; is just carbon, the same stuff you scrape off an oil lamp chimney. If you use ask.com and search on laser printer emissions (no quotes) you will get quite a few sources of discussion on this point. I've included one which you should find interesting. I believe that if you do not have printers concentrated in one room (where there are people) and there is reasonable ventilation, there should not be a problem. Placement of printers, from my prior employment experience, is local to the user group thus they are not concentrated. After reading the report, you will likely conclude (as I did) that this study is based on the ';stand close and inhale deeply for 72 hours'; approach used in many such test.

Which are the best printers that do not have emissions of toner?

and dont tell me that it is inconclusive that toner is bad for your health. toner contains plastic resin which has been proven in numerous studies to be carcinogenic. its ridiculously toxic.Which are the best printers that do not have emissions of toner?
The majority of the models found to be emitters were made by HP.

The low emitters were mostly Konica Minolta and Okidata printers.Which are the best printers that do not have emissions of toner?
Why don't you just buy an inkjet, if you're so worried about toner pollution?
Get yourself a Canon inkjet printer, they do not use toner, and then buy generic cartridges to save money.

My Samsung CLP-300 Printer seems to print black ink slightly faded. I just bought a new toner cartridge. The Colour/color printing seems fine, I printed a picture of my son and anything with black in it on the left hand side faded but otherwise it was fine.

This is a real problem for printing Resumes. My Samsung CLP-300 Printer seems to print black ink slightly faded. I just bought a new toner cartridge.?
It sounds like one of two things - either the drum is losing its charge and needs replacement or there is something wrong with the black toner. Since you say color works and it started when you replaced the black, I'd suspect the toner.

Why don't you look for something or create a pattern which prints all 4 colors equally on the same locations of the page. If only the black has a problem, you know it's not the drum.

The good news is that you can get toner pretty cheaply. A set of all 4 is $50 at http://www.ccs-digital.comMy Samsung CLP-300 Printer seems to print black ink slightly faded. I just bought a new toner cartridge.?
EnviroTone Imaging can help you with your printing problem with the Samsung CLP 300 printer. If the printer was working fine with the old cartridge, I would take the toner cartridge back to the store and get a replacement one for a defective part.

As far as toner for that, I do carry them. If you would like prices please email me. randall@envirotoneimaging.com

Is there a laser printer that doesn't try to force you not to refill toner?

I've had several color laser printers and haven't been happy with any of them. My Minolta magicolor was impossible to fix or get at anything and my OKI has had endless silly problems and the image drums and other consumables don't last nearly as long as they say they should. Add to that the thing taking itself off line and refusing to print because it decided I was low on some toner color. If I'm printing B%26amp;W I don't give a cr@p if I'm low on yellow. And they have these smart chips to make it hard to refill.

I remember in the old days when the image started getting light we just dumped more toner in a vat.

Is there a printer company that isn't just out to rip us off on toner?

Thanks in advance. Is there a laser printer that doesn't try to force you not to refill toner?
If I am to answer your last question then No, no such company exists!

They are bringing the printer prices down to get you hooked on their

    cartridges!

But Brother laser printers do not need resetting chip or resetters:

For example the HL-2460 can only be refilled with toner and hole making tool no chip:

  • When buying a laser printer should you worry about the drum or just the toner? ?

How do you find out if the printer requires that you change the drum? Or do all laser printers require drum changes? What are some other things to look for? When buying a laser printer should you worry about the drum or just the toner? ?
On most HPs the drum is part of the toner which is why they are so expensive. Right now the best laser deal is below. The toner is separate from the drum so you can buy a set of 4 replacement toners for $70.

the drum should last a long time, so should not really be a worry, usually HP's come withe everything in a complete user maintenance kit, laser printers such as canon, brother, hp, xerox are generally the most reliable

Laser printer is printing dirty pages after I refilled the toner. Please help!?

I purchased a new drum unit for our Panasonic KX-MB271 laser printer and it worked pretty well until the toner was low. I went on amazon and found one of those refill kits which was basically a bottle full of toner and I just refilled it following the directions. I'm not sure what happened but a few days later whenever I would print anything the paper would be dirty. Even when I printed out a blank white sheet of paper, it would come out lightly tinted gray. Could I have spilled toner on the rollers or something? I disassembled the printer and tried cleaning it but the problem is still there. I don't want to get rid of this printer since I just spent $100 on a new drum unit for it. Please help!Laser printer is printing dirty pages after I refilled the toner. Please help!?
Is this is a drum/toner cartridge that you refilled? or a separate toner cartridge from the drum?

If it is a combined toner/drum cartridge that you refilled then I'd say that the cartridge is just worn out. These cartridges are not built all that well to last for more than they were intended. There are other internal parts that control the toner application, clean the drum and store waste toner that need attention too. If the waste toner part is full then you'll get this toner coming back out onto your prints. If the drum cleaning parts are worn out - same thing. I really don't ever recommend refilling toner cartridges as there are so many other things that can, and will, wear out and other potential problems from doing so. Also the re-fill toner may not have been of the proper quality as the ones in the cartridges.

I'm sure the printer is still fine, but recommend purchasing a new, or at least a professionally re-manufactured cartridge (though there can be problems with these as well many times). I know they are expensive, but provide more consistent good quality prints.

Best of luck.Laser printer is printing dirty pages after I refilled the toner. Please help!?

    I have a brother HL 1240

It came with drum and toner.

The toner will last you for a very long time the drum will last for yearsIf I buy a Laser Printer do I have to get both toner and a drum for it to work?
The printer comes with toner and a drum. As time passes, you'll have to periodically buy new toner cartridges, and eventually you may have to buy a new drum. However, lasers can print thousands of pages on just one toner cartridge, and even more on just one drum, so it still works out cheaper than other types of printers.

The toner is the equivalent of ink. The drum is a part of the printer that deposits toner on the paper as it rolls over the drum. Toner runs out, and then you need a new cartridge to have more toner (just like ink). Drums wear out, and have to be replaced. Drums last a really long time, though.
no, they come with that already

only buy the toner and drum as needed some way off later

the drum lasts many thousands of pages, its a kind of heater unit, the toner is really tiny plastic that melts into a kind of ink,
