Messages are coming up saying that the toner is low and I should replace yet... yet the printer works beautifully.
How can I know when to actually replace the toner? I shouldn't replace it now, even though it says to, because I notice no problems with the quality of prints it produces.My laser printer says I need a new toner... when will I ACTUALLY need a new toner?
printer companies do that ..its stupid ...replace it the minute it quits working until then dont worry about itMy laser printer says I need a new toner... when will I ACTUALLY need a new toner?
';toner is running low'; means the the toner is about to run out so prepare for a new toner... ofcourse it wont affect the quality of the printing unless its empty... usually there will be 5-10% toner left when the message appears..
since its TONER based printer then the machine will stop when the toner is totally empty and a newer message will appear, ';replace toner cartridge';
I replace mine when the print gets too light or is dark on one side and light on the other side.
But I always have a spare toner I have bought on sale so I am not forced to pay full price.
You should probably assume you're down to the last two or three hundred pages, and plan on buying a toner cartridge pretty soon. (They have a long shelf life, so it doesn't matter if you don't use it right away.)
When the toner is getting low, it can also be useful to take the toner cartridge out, and, while still keeping it generally upright, tap on in lightly a few times, and rock it back and forth several times, to redistribute the remaining toner inside.
Because there's a photoconductor module inside a laser printer --sometimes even part of the toner cartridge itself --I've gotten in the habit of avoiding bright, harsh lights, while opening a laser printer --no halogen lights, no direct sunlight, etc. (I must have read that in an instruction manual years ago.)
