The ink has run out of my school printer and I saw the following auction on Ebay for refill toner. How easy is it to actually refill this cartiridge and put in the new chip? Is it worth the trouble or better to buy a new cartridge?

IF you are okay with the fact that toner dust is highly toxic, and you are okay with the fact that they are no sending you a new electrostatic roller (the part of the cartridge which actually forms the print. Also if you are very technically inclined, as you have to replace a chip which is welded to the cartridge, as well as create and seal and airtight hole in said cartridge, then sure go ahead.
Keep in mind that nowhere in the auction does it mention a chip, they are not sending you the part which actually makes your toner work!
You can buy professionally re manufactured toner cartridges for about half the cost of the Dell price. You are best to explore that option.
